sports science- the Yoshinkan method of technique and teaching has been refined continuously since 1955. It’s principles stand up to modern scientific scrutiny today. And although there is a clear distinction today between classic budo, such as Yoshinkan Aikido, and sports-do that involve competition, we use the term sports science here to refer to this very scientific aspect of this very traditional budo.

the art of Yoshinkan Aikido- developed by one of this century’s finest martial artists and most innovative teachers, Mr. Gozo Shioda. A man of small stature, whose spirit set him apart and demonstration skills stood alone. Known as the “Little Giant of Aikido”, Shioda Sensei was an outstanding pre-war student of Aikido founder Morihei Ueshiba.

As a celebrated author of numerous books, whose technical manuals (english titles “Dynamic Aikido”, “Yoshinkan Basics”, “Total Aikido, the Master’s Course”) set a standard for clarity and presentation, there has been much written about this famous teacher.
